THE PENINSULA

What you need to know about Cap Ferret before you come?

A Bordeaux ↔ Cap Ferret VTC is a private transfer with a professional chauffeur between Bordeaux and the Lège-Cap-Ferret peninsula. Flat fare from €110 for Lège or Claouey, €150 for the tip. The peninsula stretches 25 km from north to south, served by a single road — the D106 (up to 22,500 vehicles/day in peak season). Le Canon (oyster cabins) is 63 km from Bordeaux via the A63 then D106 (1h09 off-traffic), the tip 72 km (1h18). Our chauffeur handles the D106, traffic jams and saturated village parking.

Location and access

  • Cap Ferret tip ~72 km / 1h18
  • 1h–1h20 off-traffic
  • Up to 3h on a July Saturday on the saturated D106
  • Access via A63 exit 22 then D106
  • No TER train or tram: only car / VTC serves all villages

Peninsula villages

  • Claouey — peninsula entrance, marina, market
  • Le Canon — emblematic oyster cabins, pontoon tasting
  • L'Herbe — picturesque village, waterside terraces
  • La Vigne · Algerian chapel, quieter atmosphere
  • Cap Ferret tip · lighthouse, Horizon beach, ocean beaches

Common flat fares

  • Cap Ferret tip · €150 eco / €165 sedan / €180 van / €205 Mercedes van
  • L'Herbe · from €135
  • Le Canon · from €130
  • Claouey · from €115
  • Lège · from €110

Seasonality

  • April–May: quiet peninsula, empty beaches, start of oyster season
  • June: fine weather, moderate, ideal
  • July–August: high season, saturated D106, depart before 9am or after 5pm
  • September: our recommendation, fine weather without saturation
  • October: autumn colors, oysters in peak season

Traffic is growing fast with the arrival of low-cost carriers — driving real demand for reliable transport, 24/7, no surprise on the meter. Also explore all our services.

Why is a private VTC more cost-effective than a bus day trip?

Bordeaux → Cap Ferret (oyster villages + oyster lunch + Horizon beach + lighthouse) · 6h day · 3 people in a sedan. Honest comparison vs Viator, GetYourGuide, Bordovino platforms that resell shared bus day trips with imposed program and fixed 5pm return.

⚠ THE TRAP TO AVOID

Why not Viator, GetYourGuide or Bordovino for Cap Ferret.

When you type “Bordeaux Cap Ferret day trip” or “Cap Ferret from Bordeaux”, these names come up first. They're platforms that resell shared buses. Here's what they hide.

25–40%

Hidden commission

You pay the platform markup for a service subcontracted to the same local chauffeur. No added value for you, except for Viator.

30+

Shared bus, 30 strangers

Bus of 20-40 seats, a single village (often Le Canon or L'Herbe), an imposed tasting, 5pm sharp return. No flexibility, no adaptation to your pace.

0

Zero flexibility

No little train to Horizon, no ocean beach, no extension to La Vigne, no sunset at the lighthouse. Imposed program, everyone at the same place, return time fixed in advance.

The alternative is simple: book direct. You save the commission, you know who's coming in advance, you message the driver on WhatsApp before the day. Cheaper and better — questions? Check our FAQ or contact us.

Cap Ferret day with 3 kids from Bordeaux: Adrien dropped us at Le Canon for the oyster cabins, waited during the oyster lunch at L'Herbe, return via Horizon beach with the little train. Not a second in D106 traffic jams.

My husband refuses Uber since paying €90 for a €30 ride in Paris. Adrien announced his price by email three days before our Cap Ferret day. The meter didn't move. He kept his word, start to finish.

Frequently asked questions.

Everything travelers ask us before booking.

How much does a Bordeaux → Cap Ferret transfer cost?

Our flat fares start at €110 in eco sedan (1–3 passengers) for Lège or Claouey, €130 for Le Canon, €135 for L'Herbe, €150 for Cap Ferret tip. For a full peninsula day (chauffeur-on-call, sedan minimum): €255 (4h), €385 (6h), €515 (8h). Surcharge in evenings (7pm–6am), weekends and bank holidays.

Is the VTC cheaper than a taxi to Cap Ferret?

Yes, in the vast majority of cases. A taxi Bordeaux → Cap Ferret (~72 km to the tip) bills on meter between €150 and €250 depending on hour: €10–20 pickup fee + €2/km in daytime or €3/km from 7pm, plus €35/h in slow advance (saturated D106 in high season). Our fare is fixed from €110 in eco sedan — known at booking. Unlike a taxi that leaves, your chauffeur waits during the day (oyster villages, beaches, lighthouse) at no extra cost.

Does the chauffeur speak English?

Yes. Our chauffeurs speak English fluently enough to ensure a comfortable transfer: greeting, directions, conversations en route and local recommendations. A significant portion of our customers are British, American, Irish or Australian, and communication is smooth.

Does the chauffeur wait during the oysters and the lighthouse climb?

Yes, that's precisely the point of chauffeur-on-call. The chauffeur drops you at the oyster village, waits during the oyster tasting (1h–2h), picks you up, drops you at the lighthouse during the climb (258 steps, ~30 min), then at Horizon beach (via little train) and waits during swimming. No meter ticking, no pressure on schedule — wait time is included in the hourly flat fare.

Can I pay in cash, or do I need a card?

Both options are available. You can pay online at booking via Stripe, our secure payment processor (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal), or directly to the chauffeur on arrival, in cash or by card. A detailed receipt is automatically sent by email.

What if I need a child seat or extra luggage space?

Child seats are available as option at €10 per seat (baby seat, junior seat or booster) — to specify at booking. For bulky luggage, golf bags or group with lots of equipment, opt for the eco van or Mercedes Class V, which offer significantly more generous trunk space.
