When I launched VTC Bordeaux Chauffeur in 2022, the idea wasn’t to start yet another transportation company. I’m a Bordeaux native, and in just a few years I watched the city change face. English, American and Australian visitors now arrive in full waves, and every time I saw the same scene: the taxi queue stuck at Mérignac, the app that overcharges because it’s Sunday night, and no one to clearly answer an email in English when you’re just trying to book ahead. And for locals, whenever it’s a trip to Roissy, Paris or down to the Pyrenees, it’s often unclear: who to call, at what price, with which car. I wanted to do something simpler. A decent car, a price set in advance, and someone at the other end of the line, not a platform. You write to me, I reply, we agree, I show up. That’s it, really. But done right, it changes a ride.
These days I no longer drive alone. As volume has grown, especially in peak season when requests can land at the same time from London, Bordeaux and Paris, I’ve gradually built a network of partner chauffeurs — not a list of anonymous providers, but people I know, with whom I’ve driven, and whom I call when I know the trip will suit them. Some are better on long-distance runs, others on full-day wine tours where you need to wait patiently between two tastings without rushing the client. Each has their comfort zone, and that’s a good thing. Which lets me cover pretty much anything that comes up: a Mérignac run at 6 AM to catch a London flight, a day cruising through the vineyards of Saint-Émilion or Médoc, a Cap Ferret family trip with bikes in the trunk, a wedding in the Charente, a long-distance transfer to Paris, Biarritz, San Sebastián or the Pyrenees ski resorts in winter. Whether the ride lasts forty minutes or six hours, the principle stays the same: clean car, punctuality, price quoted in advance, and someone reachable if anything moves — a delayed flight, a meeting that runs over, a missed train at Saint-Jean.
