Our story

From a single driver to a network of partners.

When I launched VTC Bordeaux Chauffeur in 2022, the idea wasn’t to set up yet another transport company.

VTC Bordeaux is the private chauffeur agency founded in Bordeaux in 2022 by Adrien Moreno, holder of professional EVTC licence #03322012101 issued by the Gironde Prefecture. The business was incorporated as VTCBORDEAUX SAS in April 2024 (Bordeaux Trade and Companies Register 924 992 605, registered office at 9 Quai des Mouettes, Parempuyre). A network of selected partner drivers. Google rating 5.0/5 based on 25 verified reviews.

I’m from Bordeaux, and over the past few years I’ve seen the city change completely. Visitors from the UK, the US and Australia now arrive in droves, and every time I saw the same thing: the queue of taxis that wouldn’t budge at Mérignac, the app overcharging because it was a Sunday evening, and no one to give a clear reply to an email in English when you’re just trying to book in advance.

And for the people of Bordeaux, as soon as you need to go to Roissy, Paris or down into the Pyrenees, it’s often a bit of a mystery: who to call, at what price, and in what sort of car.

I wanted to make things simpler. A decent car, a price quoted upfront , and someone on the other end of the line — not a platform. You message me, I reply, we agree on the details, I come round. That’s it, really. But done well, it makes all the difference to a journey. Adrien Moreno, founder

These days I don’t work alone. As demand has grown — especially in peak season when requests can come in simultaneously from London, Bordeaux and Paris — I’ve gradually built up a network of partner drivers. Not a list of anonymous service providers: people I know, who I’ve driven with, and whom I call when I know the journey will suit them. Some are better at long distances, others at wine-tasting days where you need to be patient between tastings without rushing the customer.

This allows me to cover just about everything that comes up: a trip to Mérignac at 6am to catch a flight to London, a day spent wandering the vineyards of Saint-Émilion or the Médoc, a family trip to Cap Ferret with bikes in the boot, a wedding in Charente, a long-distance transfer to Paris, Biarritz, San Sebastián or the Pyrenean resorts in winter. Whether the journey takes forty minutes or six hours, the principle remains the same: a clean car, punctuality, a price quoted in advance, and someone who can be reached if anything comes up.

In April 2024, I incorporated the business as VTCBORDEAUX SAS (Bordeaux Trade and Companies Register 924 992 605, capital €100, registered office 9 Quai des Mouettes, Parempuyre). EVTC professional licence #03322012101 issued by the Gironde Prefecture in 2022. Pacifica professional liability insurance (Crédit Agricole). Intra-Community VAT number FR81924992605.

What is the price for a private hire service from Bordeaux to Mérignac Airport?

For the BOD ↔ Bordeaux city centre route (for guidance only): Eco €45, Mercedes E-Class saloon €50, Eco van €70, Mercedes van €80. One-way fares, including tolls and luggage. For Saint-Émilion: Economy €119 · Saloon €129 · Economy Van €149 · Mercedes Van €169. For Arcachon: Economy €139 · Saloon €149 · Economy Van €169 · Mercedes Van €189. The exact fare is confirmed in writing at the time of booking. 40 minutes’ waiting time at the airport after landing time, at no extra cost. Flight number tracked in real time via Flightradar24, with automatic adjustment in the event of a delay. Further details in the full FAQ or via the booking form.

What is the difference between a private hire vehicle and a taxi in Bordeaux?

A private hire vehicle and a taxi are two regulated services but operate differently. A taxi can be hailed in the street or picked up at a taxi rank; its fare is calculated by a time-and-distance meter regulated by the prefecture. A private hire vehicle must be booked in advance — this is a legal requirement — and its fare is set freely by the operator and communicated before the journey. With VTC Bordeaux, the fare is fixed and confirmed in writing: you know exactly what you’re paying before you get in. The private hire driver holds an EVTC professional licence issued by the prefecture (here: #03322012101, Gironde), guaranteeing training and medical fitness. No hidden surcharges for night-time, weekends or public holidays.

Do the drivers speak English?

All our drivers (including the founder) have a sufficient grasp of English to communicate with customers from the UK, US, Ireland, Australia and Canada — addresses, times, instructions, landmarks. Not interpreter-level bilingualism, but enough to ensure a smooth journey: “where are we going, at what time, which luggage, which hotel, which terminal”. Bookings via email or WhatsApp can be made in French or English — emails will be replied to in the customer’s language. Particularly useful for transfers from Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport to hotels and châteaux in the Médoc or Saint-Émilion, for day-long wine tours, and for business trips with international clients. This linguistic versatility is standard on all our journeys, not a premium option charged separately.

How does payment work?

Two payment methods, at the customer’s choice. Option 1 — online payment: a secure link is sent automatically upon booking confirmation. Credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay accepted. Option 2 — payment on board: cash or credit card paid directly to the driver on the day of the journey. The initial fare may be recalculated if the journey is altered en route — significant delay on the client’s part, an additional stop at another address, an extension, or an unplanned wait. Any potential surcharge is announced at the time of the change, never afterwards. For long-distance journeys not departing from Bordeaux, full payment via the link is required 12 hours in advance to secure the partner driver’s slot. For professionals and businesses, an invoice with VAT is issued automatically (intra-Community VAT number FR81924992605). VTCBORDEAUX SAS is registered with the Bordeaux Trade and Companies Register under SIREN number 924 992 605.

What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is delayed, you don’t need to do anything. When you book, you provide your flight number. The driver assigned to your journey tracks your flight’s progress in real time via Flightradar24. If the landing is delayed, they automatically adjust their arrival time at Mérignac Airport — no cancelled journeys, no rebooking. A 40-minute waiting period is included in the fare from the actual landing time. Beyond this, any additional waiting time may be charged at the hourly rate for the booked category — rates are provided at the time of booking. In the event of a significant delay, please contact Adrien on +33 7 57 59 89 00. No penalty for delays beyond your control.

Do you cover the Basque Country and Spain?

Yes. VTC Bordeaux provides long-distance transfers to the French and Spanish Basque Country. Regularly served destinations: Biarritz, Bayonne, Saint-Jean-de-Luz, Hendaye, San Sebastián (Donostia), Bilbao, Pamplona. Journeys available in a Mercedes E-Class saloon (3 passengers) or a Mercedes van (7 passengers). The fare is calculated per kilometre based on a minimum pick-up distance, confirmed in writing before departure. Bordeaux → San Sebastián: approx. 240 km. Bordeaux → Bilbao: approx. 330 km. Suitable for travellers wishing to avoid connections, family groups and cross-border business travel. For all long-distance journeys not departing from Bordeaux: full payment required 12 hours in advance.

How do I check the validity of an EVTC licence?

The validity of a professional EVTC card can be checked free of charge online via the official government service, accessible at entreprendre.service-public.gouv.fr. This “VTC Card Check” service has been set up by the Ministry of Transport. All VTC drivers holding a card are automatically registered on the system. Simply enter the number to obtain real-time confirmation of validity. Adrien Moreno’s EVTC card #03322012101 was issued by the Gironde Prefecture in 2022. The licence is valid for 5 years from the date of issue and is a legal requirement for working as a private hire driver in France. Its issue requires a theory test (regulations, road safety, English language) and a practical test (driving), as well as a compulsory medical examination. Without this licence, providing a paid private hire service is illegal.
