The Dune du Pilat is Europe's highest sand dune: 100 to 110 meters tall, 2.9 km long, 500 m wide, weighing 60 million m³ of sand. Classified Grand Site de France since 2013, it welcomes nearly 2 million visitors per year, making it the 2nd most visited tourist site in Nouvelle-Aquitaine after Saint-Émilion. The 360° panorama from the crest embraces the Atlantic, Banc d'Arguin (nature reserve), the Landes forest (1 million hectares of maritime pines) and the Arcachon Bay. Located 64 km from Bordeaux center (57 min off-traffic via A63 + A660 + D259), accessible by car, VTC or TER + bus 601 from Arcachon. Access logistics collapse in high season — door-to-door VTC is designed for this.
Traffic is growing fast with the arrival of low-cost carriers — driving real demand for reliable transport, 24/7, no surprise on the meter. Also explore all our services.

Get my flat rate →⚠ THE TRAP TO AVOID
When you type “Bordeaux Dune du Pilat day trip” or “Dune du Pilat from Bordeaux”, these platform names come up first. They resell shared buses to the saturated D259. Here's what they hide.
You pay the platform markup for a service subcontracted to the same local chauffeur. No added value for you, just a thicker commission.
Bus of 20-40 seats, one parking drop, fixed 1h30 at the dune, sharp 5pm return to Bordeaux. No flexibility, no sunset, no ocean beach extension.
No swim at Pyla beach, no oyster lunch in Pyla-sur-Mer, no return by ocean side. Imposed program, everyone in the same bus, return time fixed in advance.
The alternative is simple: book direct. You save the commission, you know who's coming in advance, you message the driver on WhatsApp before the day. Cheaper and better — questions? Check our FAQ or contact us.
Book direct →Four guaranteed inclusions in each Pilat day: personalized itinerary, on-site waiting (the chauffeur waits while you climb), fixed flat fare, comfort on board. No surcharge in high season, no extra cost if traffic delays you, no surprise on the meter.
Dune climb + Pyla beach + lunch in Pyla-sur-Mer + sunset, or your custom program. The chauffeur adapts to your pace. Book 48h ahead in high season (June–September) to secure your slot before parking fills at 9am.
The chauffeur waits during your visits — ascent of the dune (130 steps in season, 45 min to 2h on top), beach swim at Pyla, oyster lunch on the water, sunset photo from the crest.
Flat fare announced at booking. Saturday morning D259 jams, Sunday evening return-from-beach: price unchanged.
Bottled water, USB charger, air conditioning, included in every trip.

Your chauffeur
Not a platform, not a randomly assigned subcontractor. It's Adrien Moreno, founder of the service in 2022, or one of his hand-picked English-speaking partner chauffeurs. Over 2,000 trips completed since launch — 35% to the Bay and Dune du Pilat. You exchange via WhatsApp or email before the day to set timings (early morning to beat parking saturation, or sunset return) and what you want to see (climb, ocean side, Pyla beach, Banc d'Arguin view). On the day, he's there, name sign or simply on time, fluent English, air-conditioned vehicle, water available.
Four service tiers. Same commitment: flat rate, on-site wait included, multi-stop itinerary, personal welcome by Adrien or one of his partners.

Adrien picked us up at the hotel at 8am, we were on top of the dune before the buses. While we descended on the ocean side, he waited at the parking. After lunch at Pyla, return to Bordeaux. No queue. Will do again.
14 March 2026
My husband refuses Uber since paying €90 for a €30 ride in Paris. Adrien announced his price by email three days before our Pilat day. The meter didn't move. He kept his word, start to finish.

Choose your pickup point (hotel, station, airport), your destination Dune du Pilat (or combined Pilat + Arcachon, Pilat + Cap Ferret) and the date. Flat price shown in 30 seconds — from €130 from Bordeaux center, €280 (4h sedan) for chauffeur-on-call. Immediate email confirmation.
The chauffeur arrives on time, takes you to the dune parking, waits during your climb and descent (45 min to 2h), then drives you to Pyla beach for lunch or back. No meter, no pressure.

Everything travelers ask us before booking.
Our flat fares start at €110 in eco sedan (1–3 passengers) for Lège or Claouey, €130 for Le Canon, €135 for L'Herbe, €150 for Cap Ferret tip. For a full peninsula day (chauffeur-on-call, sedan minimum): €255 (4h), €385 (6h), €515 (8h). Surcharge in evenings (7pm–6am), weekends and bank holidays.
Yes, in the vast majority of cases. A taxi Bordeaux → Cap Ferret (~72 km to the tip) bills on meter between €150 and €250 depending on hour: €10–20 pickup fee + €2/km in daytime or €3/km from 7pm, plus €35/h in slow advance (saturated D106 in high season). Our fare is fixed from €110 in eco sedan — known at booking. Unlike a taxi that leaves, your chauffeur waits during the day (oyster villages, beaches, lighthouse) at no extra cost.
Yes. Our chauffeurs speak English fluently enough to ensure a comfortable transfer: greeting, directions, conversations en route and local recommendations. A significant portion of our customers are British, American, Irish or Australian, and communication is smooth.
Yes, that's precisely the point of chauffeur-on-call. The chauffeur drops you at the oyster village, waits during the oyster tasting (1h–2h), picks you up, drops you at the lighthouse during the climb (258 steps, ~30 min), then at Horizon beach (via little train) and waits during swimming. No meter ticking, no pressure on schedule — wait time is included in the hourly flat fare.
Both options are available. You can pay online at booking via Stripe, our secure payment processor (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal), or directly to the chauffeur on arrival, in cash or by card. A detailed receipt is automatically sent by email.
Child seats are available as option at €10 per seat (baby seat, junior seat or booster) — to specify at booking. For bulky luggage, golf bags or group with lots of equipment, opt for the eco van or Mercedes Class V, which offer significantly more generous trunk space.
